PORT ANGELES —Olympic National Park has named Todd Suess as its next deputy superintendent.
Suess served for the last eight years as superintendent of Jewel Cave National Monument in western South Dakota.
He replaces Sue McGill, who retired as Olympic National Park’s deputy superintendent in November.
“He should probably be here the week of the 22nd,” said Barb Maynes, Olympic National Park spokeswoman.
Suess comes to Olympic National Park as the park service prepares to tear down the two Elwha River dams, beginning in 2011.
At 148 miles, Jewel Cave is the second-longest cave in the world.
