Olympic Medical Center sells nursing home

Olympic Medical Center commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to sell its nursing home in Sequim.

Oregon based Avamere Health Services will pay $4.8 million for Olympic Care & Rehabilitation Center, 1000 S. Fifth Ave.

The hospital district had recorded financial losses every year since purchasing the nursing home at the beginning of 1998 for $4.3 million. The medical center spent an additional $2 million to upgrade it.

Avamere will begin managing the nursing home July 1 until its HUD loan is approved.

Avamere owns 20 nursing homes in Oregon and Washington.
