The Olympic Peninsula Red Cross is in search of heroes.
The North Olympic Peninsula chapter of the organization will host the sixth annual Red Cross “Real Heroes” banquet at 6 p.m. on Nov. 6.
First it is looking for nominees, Executive Director Phyllis Darling said.
Examples of categories that past heroes have fallen into include fire rescue, senior independence, child safety, emergency response, animal rescue and good Samaritans.
The act or acts of heroism must have been done within the past five years.
“We are looking for people who have gone over and above the call of duty to help the community or someone who has spent a great deal of time or effort or money in improving the community,” Darling said.
Nominations must be made by Sept. 25.
The dinner is first-come, first-served and is by donation only.
“We are also looking for hero sponsors,” Darling said.
“Hero sponsors have the honor of presenting the award to one of the heroes, and they have a complementary table at dinner along with their name or their company name featured prominently in all of our materials for the dinner.”
