NEWS BRIEFS — Double art exhibit to highlight Port Ludlow league members’ works . . . and other items

PORT LUDLOW — Two Port Ludlow Artists’ League members Judy Danberg and Susan Yesunas will exhibit their art this month, and a reception for them will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. today in the lobby of Sound Community Bank on Oak Bay Road.
Refreshments will be next door in the Art Gallery from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Danberg has been sewing since she was 5. A quilted vest for a granddaughter inspired her to start the local Quilters-by-the-Bay.
After retiring to Port Ludlow, she has been making quilts for family members, friends and community organizations. She prefers bold and vivid colors for her less-than-traditional quilts.
In recent years, she has been working with yarns and hooks to pick up crocheting skills.
Yesunas, a potter living on Marrowstone Island, works with stoneware and porcelain clay in her home studio.
A military spouse who has lived and traveled all over the world, Yesunas graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design.
After a 10-year career working in that field, she began working with clay while taking a pottery class in Belgium.
Inspired by her extensive travels and the natural environment, she strives to create beautiful and unique but functional art.
Her work can be viewed on the website www.etsy.com/shop/MovingMudPottery.
