PORT ANGELES — Tickets are still available for “An Evening in the Olympics” on Tuesday.
The tickets, which are free, are required for admission to the Olympic National Park-sponsored event.
It will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave. Doors will open to the public at 6 p.m.
Moderated by park Superintendent Karen Gustin, it will also feature a presentation by noted Sequim photographer Ross Hamilton, traditional songs and dances by the Klallam Dance Group and a special screening of “The National Parks: This is America,” a new film by Ken Burns.
The 45-minute “This is America” is a preview for Burns’ six-part, 12-hour series, “The National Parks: America’s Best Idea,” scheduled to premiere on Sept. 27 on KCTS-TV channel 9.
There will also be two eight-minute documentaries screened at Tuesday’s event that were produced by KCTS.
Both were filmed in the park this summer and are set to air at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Sept. 27 on KCTS.
“We anticipate a big turnout — and encourage ticket holders to arrive early,” said Gustin.
Supporting the event are the Friends of Olympic National Park, the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, Discover Your Northwest, the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, Washington’s National Park Fund and KCTS.
