PORT ANGELES — Walter Lawings, 50, of Port Angeles was in stable condition at Olympic Medical Center after crashing his motorcycle into a car near Port Angeles Plaza shopping center on Wednesday.
Sgt. Jack Lowell of the Port Angeles Police Department said Lawings’ leg was hurt in the 4:30 p.m. wreck.
Lowell said the wreck occurred in the 2000 block of East First Street — where U.S. Highway 101 splits into First and Front Streets.
Traffic was reduced to one lane in either direction for about 30 minutes.
Lowell said Lawings was issued an infraction for following to closely.
Lawings tried to swerve out of the way, but hit the car’s left rear corner, he said.
