SEQUIM – An elderly Sequim woman who disappeared from her home Thursday morning was found Friday morning and was recovering from her ordeal at Olympic Medical Center, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
A Sequim resident reported at 9 a.m. Friday that the woman — who later was identified as Karen R. Grennan, 78, of Sequim — had been found wandering in a field in the 2200 block of Port Williams Road.
Deputies and medics located Grennan, who was being cared for by Sequim residents.
She was taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles to be treated for exposure to overnight conditions.
Grennan was reported missing by her husband at about 9:45 a.m. Thursday. She had left her phone and wallet behind and last was seen by a neighbor at about 8:30 p.m. driving a 2005 Subaru Baja in the area of her residence.
Grennan’s vehicle was located unoccupied with the keys in the center console at about 10 a.m. at the Port Williams Beach parking lot, according to the sheriff’s office press release. Deputies searched the beach and surrounding area but were unable to find her.
Clallam County Search and Rescue was called to assist shortly before 11 a.m. Ground searchers including Washington State Patrol troopers, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office drone, the Jamestown S’Klallam Fish and Game patrol boat, U.S. Coast Guard helicopter, a search dog from Northwest Bloodhounds of Tacoma and Kitsap County Search and Rescue K9s. They searched until 7 p,m. Friday but did not find her.
