INDIAN VALLEY — An 85-year-old drive from Sequim was taken to Olympic Medical Center after the minivan he was driving left U.S. Highway 101, hit an embankment and then landed back on the road.
The State Patrol said Carl J. Nelson was eastbound on Highway 101 just east of the Elwha River bridge about 7 miles west of Port Angeles when the 1996 Ford Windstar minivan he was driving left the road to the right, struck a signpost and embankment and then landed back on the highway.
The State Patrol said Nelson would be cited for traveling at a speed too fast for conditions. He was wearing a seat restraint, and drugs or alcohol are not involved, troopers reported.
