Master plan report for 2007 changes to be bared Wednesday

PORT TOWNSEND – A staff report on Jefferson County’s Comprehensive Plan amendment docket for this year will be released on Wednesday.

The nine site-specific proposed amendments include the continuation of the proposed master planned resort in Brinnon by the Statesman Group of Cos. and Black Point Properties.

That proposal that is being presented to the public separately from the others.

The remaining eight site-specific proposed amendments address land use re-designation changes of tax parcels, including rezones for forest lands to rural residential as well as rural residential parcels being rezoned to forest.

Also proposed is the designation of an industrial land bank to provide additional employment opportunities for citizens.

The preliminary integrated staff recommendation and addendum for the docket, which will be finalized in December, will be available at the county Department of Community Development office, 621 Sheridan St., Port Townsend, or on the county’s Web site at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/commdevelopment.

“The public review process for the comprehensive plan amendments provides an opportunity for citizens to propose rezones and/or mineral resource land designations,” said Al Scalf, director of the community development department.

A Planning Commission public hearing on all proposals except for the Brinnon resort is planned at the Chimacum High School auditorium as part of a regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 19.

The Brinnon resort will be addressed at a Planning Commission public hearing in Brinnon on Oct. 3.

Jefferson County conducts a comprehensive plan amendment cycle every year as part its implementation of the state Growth Management Act.

The process continues until early December with consideration for approval by the three county commissioners.

For more information on the amendment cycle process or about public meetings and hearings, visit www.co.jefferson.wa.us/commdevelopment or phone the community development office at 360-379-4450.
