LIVE MUSIC COLUMN: Relish in a miasma of live music on Peninsula

LAVENDER WEEKEND WAFTS into Sequim starting Friday, and Jazz in the Alley celebrates its eighth year featuring Tracy Blume and Jazz in Blume at 219 W. Washington St., Sequim.

There is plenty to see, hear — and smell — this weekend.

Port Angeles

■ Today at Castaways Restaurant and Night Club, 1213 Marine Drive, it’s Jerry’s country jam with guest musicians Terry Roszatycki, Rusty Munro and guest steel guitarist Wayne Franco of Poulsbo from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Friday, Dee Coburn and the Night Beats bring their oldies, country and rock ’n’ roll beats for dancing from 8 p.m. to midnight.

■ Today, Tracy Blume has a reunion performance with Jim Rosand at Michael’s Seafood & Steakhouse, 171 E. First St., at 7 p.m. Reservations to 360-417-6929 are recommended.

■ Today at Bar N9ne, 229 W. First St., the open-mic variety show begins at 9 p.m.

■ On Friday at the Fairmount Restaurant, 1127 W. U.S. Highway 101, Serendipity plays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a surprise guest artist joining the band at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, join the country jam from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

■ On Friday, Bill and Rudy bring their favorites from the 1950s and ’60s to Barhop Brewing, 124 W. Railroad Ave, from 7:30 p.m. to midnight.

■ On Saturday, the Elwha River Casino, 631 Stratton Road, has Locos Only playing jazz from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

■ On Tuesday at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., Wally’s Boys play ballroom dance favorites from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. $5 cover; first-timers free.

Joyce

■ On Saturday at the Salt Creek Saloon and Grill, state Highway 112 and Camp Hayden Road, Chip Norris coordinates a music jam from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Sequim

■ Today at Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., Cort Armstrong and friends entertain from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Friday, the Olympic Jazz Trio, with Taylor Ackley, Craig Buhler and Chuck Easton, plays its last gig with Ackley at the Wind Rose from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, enjoy more jazz with the Skip Morris Trio from Port Townsend from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Wednesday, Bill Volmut showcases original tunes and acoustic folk rock from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Friday, start the festival weekend off at The Oasis Bar and Grill, 301 E. Washington St., with classic country tunes by the Old Sidekicks from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Black Rock plays music of the 1940s and ’50s from 8 p.m. to midnight.

On Wednesday, Buck Ellard plays his country, folk and originals from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

■ On Saturday at the Sequim VFW, 169 E. Washington St., the public can hear classic tunes by Silver and Gold from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

■ On Saturday, Gil Yslas plays mellow music on the roof of the Holiday Inn Express, 1441 E. Washington St., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. No charge for romantic sunsets.

■ On Friday at Nourish, 1345 S. Sequim Ave., Jason and Tom as the JT Duo play light jazz from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Stringology brings some gypsy jazz to your ears from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. No cover.

On Wednesday, Victor Reventlow hosts the open mic from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with sign-ups at 6 p.m.

■ On Friday at Blondie’s Plate, 134 S. Second Ave., Locos Only plays jazz in the beer garden at 8 p.m.

Blyn

■ Today in Club Seven lounge at 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 U.S. Highway 101, dance to country with the Buck Ellard Band band from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Friday, electric six-string violinist Geoffrey Castle brings his virtuoso showmanship to the stage with danceable contemporary Celtic and classic rock from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

On Saturday, the Tony Bridges Band has a country, rock and R&B sound to keep you dancing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The group was on season five of “American Idol.”

On Friday in the Rainforest Bar, enjoy Jeremy Pederson’s contemporary folk and Americana with a Pearl Jam twist from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, Jim Hoffman offers up rockin’ country from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Port Hadlock

■ On Friday at the Ajax Cafe, 21 N. Water St., Ahmad Baabahar plays acoustic guitar from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Gerry Sherman performs soulful originals on guitar from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Wednesday, Trevor Hanson and Randy Smith play Irish pub songs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Port Ludlow

■ Today in the Fireside Room at the Resort at Port Ludlow, 1 Heron Road, Trevor Hanson plays classical guitar from 6 p.m. to closing.

Port Townsend

■ On Tuesday at Sirens Pub, 823 Water St., the fiddler jam session, with invited performers, starts at 7 p.m. No cover.

On Wednesdays, join in the open-mic night starting at 9 p.m. No cover.

■ On Friday at the Uptown Pub, 1016 Lawrence St., local singers/songwriters Meredith and Dave Sheehan and Billy Winters play originals and covers starting at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Rob Rigoni & Budapest West bring blends of rock, jazz, exotica, country and more starting at 9 p.m.

On Tuesday, open mic starts at 8 p.m.

■ On Saturday at the Cellar Door, 940 Water St., Locos Only plays jazz at 9 p.m. $5 cover.

On Tuesday, Robin Bessier & the BBC Jazz Trio play from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. No cover.

On Wednesday, be a part of the Centrum Jazz Session starting at 7 p.m. No cover.

■ On Friday at Port Townsend Brewing, 330 10th St., A Cedar Suede plays original material with a Latin, Mediterranean and classical flair in the garden from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Sunday, The Alternators, George Radebaugh and Peter Evasick (of Delta Rays), create a mix of Cajun and zydeco from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. No cover.

On Wednesday, the Lobo del Mar band offers up an evening of pop and rock music from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Friday at the Pourhouse, 2231 Washington St., Robert Sarazin Blake unwinds his mind with his folk roots message in the impound lot from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, hear the Dirty Beat Duo (Jesse Watson, percussion, and Pete Lack, producer) plays electronic disco dance from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the impound lot.

Both shows free for ages 21 and older.

■ Every Monday, Trevor Hanson plays guitar at Alchemy, 842 Washington St., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Quilcene

■ On Saturday at the Linger Longer Outdoor Theater, 151 E. Columbia Ave., Freddy Pink returns with his 10-piece “rock and soul” band to dance the night away as a benefit for the Quilcene Museum from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for students, with ages 12 and younger admitted free.

High notes

■ Today, the Port Townsend Concert on the Dock opens with the Toolshed Trio (George Rezendes, Dave Meis, David Conklin and Tomoki Sage) playing their electrified versions of American roots and country blues at Pope Marine Plaza in downtown Port Townsend from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Free.

Attendees can bring picnics or find food to-go at local businesses.

■ On Friday, the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., has a community sing-along led by local musicians Dan and Carrie Cobb and a campfire with marshmallows at 6:30 p.m. Free.

The firemen from Clallam County Fire District No. 2 will bring a truck for the children to see and to ask them questions.

■ On Saturday, there’s Jazz in the Alley in the BrokersGroup parking lot, 219 W. Washington St., Sequim, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tracy Blume performs with Gert Wiitala on piano, Tom Svornich on drums and Ted Enderle on bass.

■ On Saturday, Laurel & the Hardy Boys play contra dance music to the calls by Jay Finkelstein at Quimper Grange, 1219 Corona St., Port Townsend, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 3 to 18.

■ On Saturday at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road in Coyle, Whidbey Island singer/songwriter Nathaniel Talbot debuts his new album, “Here in the Fields,” by the Nathaniel Talbot Quartet at 7:30 p.m.

The rest of the group features Sam Howard, upright bass; Russ Kleiner, drums; and Anna Tivel on violin.

Admission is by donation.

■ On Saturday, Olympic Cellars, 255410 U.S. Highway 101, continues its summer concert series with the West Coast Women’s Blues Revue playing blues, funky rock and soul at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $13 online at www.brownpapertickets.com or $15 at the door.

This concert is a fundraiser for Jefferson County’s Fund for Women and Girls.

■ On Tuesday, John Reischman and the Jaybirds kick off the Key City Cabaret Concert Series with their folk and bluegrass sound at the Key City Public Theatre, 419 Washington St., Port Townsend, at 7:30 p.m.
