PORT ANGELES — The fate of the shuttered plywood mill on Marine Drive remained undecided last week after a former KPly worker presented a business plan the week before to reopen the mill.
“I don’t think anything will materialize for a week or so,” said Josh Renshaw, a former KPly worker who wants to reopen the mill, on Friday.
Renshaw said he had not finalized any arrangements with either Klukwan Inc. of Alaska, which owns the mill, or the Port of Port Angeles.
Port of Port Angeles Executive Director Bob McChesney said on Saturday that he had no comment.
Port Commissioner Jim McEntire said he was unaware of any new events as of Friday.
Klukwan Inc. closed the 19-acre waterfront mill on Nov. 2 and made the closure permanent on April 28, putting 132 people out of work.
Renshaw, 45, of Port Angeles is backed by a group of four Port Angeles business investors, whom he has not identified.
He has said he believes that with $1 million in local money, a $1 million loan from the state and $3 million in bank loans, he can reopen and operate the mill.
