PORT ANGELES — The Lower Elwha Klallam tribe has come out against a proposed shooting park site along Sadie Creek, southwest of Joyce.
“We urge Clallam County to oppose this proposal,” Tribal Chairman Dennis R. Sullivan states in a Sept. 8 letter to county commissioners.
“It is too large, inconsistent with site conditions, requires too much infrastructure and degrades environmental quality and federally protected treaty rights.”
Sullivan said failure to protect treaty rights “will result in an unavoidable confrontation between the tribe and Clallam County.”
