SEQUIM — The Sequim City Council and Port of Port Angeles commissioners will discuss economic development opportunities during a joint meeting Monday.
The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the John Wayne Marina meeting room, 2577 W. Sequim Bay Road.
Council members and commissioners also will discuss the expansion of research and development facilities proposed at the Marine Sciences Laboratory, headquartered at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Sequim Marine Research Operations, also known as Battelle.
After introductions by Sequim Mayor Ken Hays and port commission Chairman John Calhoun, Hays will discuss city projects and goals, and Calhoun will talk about the port’s goals and projects.
Port Executive Director Jeff Robb, Sequim City Manager Steve Burkett and Charlie Brant, Sequim Marine Research Operations director, will talk about economic development opportunities.
Other topics on the agenda include the Sequim lab’s research and development facilities and West Sequim Bay Road city improvements.
The meeting will wrap up with discussion of opportunities to work together.
The Sequim City Council will reconvene at 1:30 p.m. at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St., for a business meeting to consider approval of facts supporting a planned unit development moratorium extension.
The council will hear reports from Parenting Matters and the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce.
