Today is the last chance for candidates to file to run for elected office in Jefferson County this fall.
Filing takes place in the auditor’s office of the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ten elected positions — including District 3 county commissioner and sheriff — are up for grabs.
Eighteen candidates have come forward so far, and five races are being contested. But in the remainder of the races — including District Court judge, county clerk, treasurer, prosecuting attorney and assessor — incumbents remain unopposed.
No new candidates filed for office Thursday, the fourth day of filing.
