Jefferson: Data sought on Marrowstone water system

NORDLAND — Jefferson County Public Utility District No. 1 officials will seek more input from Marrowstone Island residents about installation of a $3 million water system.

Utility officials will be sending residents a letter in the near future detailing the project.

They will follow-up up the letter with a 7 p.m. March 18 meeting at the Nordland Garden Club.

Residents attending the meeting will be able to provide further input about the system.

“I want people to know what their options are, so if they want to stay out of it, they can,” utility Commissioner David Sullivan said Thursday.

According to a draft of the letter to be sent to Marrowstone residents, the public water supply system will cost $2.99 million if 200 properties connect and 300 water meters are installed.

There are a total of 680 parcels on the island.
