PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County commissioners intend to speed up plans to expand industrial use land at Glen Cove despite objections of the Port Townsend City Council.
Expansion of industrially zoned land at the business park has been a point of contention between the city and county.
But county commissioners say increasing the amount of industrially zoned land will boost economic development opportunities at the site.
The expanded industrial zone could become a reality in the next two months, commissioners told city representatives during a joint meeting Tuesday.
“We’d like to provide some surety for property owners in the area,” Jefferson County Associate Planner Randy Kline said. “Rather than waiting until December, we’d like to move forward quicker than that.”
