SHINE –Wendi Wrinkle, Jefferson County’s first woman county commissioner, abruptly announced her resignation effective June 15, citing health reasons.
“That’s probably the most disappointing thing to me,” Wrinkle, 46, said in a telephone interview Saturday about her place in Jefferson County’s political history.
“This is not an easy decision.”
The November election was the first time Wrinkle had run for office. She is a wife and mother of two teenage daughters.
The District 3 Shine resident is the lone Democrat on the three-person board. She has been on leave since May 4.
County Administrator David Goldsmith said he expects Wrinkle to remain away from the board through her June 15 resignation date.
