Jefferson County Commissioner David Sullivan remained in stable condition on Thursday, recovering from unexpected surgery at Harborview Medical Center.
Doctors reinforced a plate supporting Sullivan’s spine. The commissioner’s wife, Connie Ross, said she hopes that this is his final surgery.
A surgeon implanted a second plate through his back on Thursday to support a plate planted from the front that an X-ray this week was revealed to be slipping. The plates are necessary to stabilized the lower lumbar (L-1) vertebra he injured in a 40-foot bluff fall May 1 near his home.
