CHIMACUM – After 14 hours of labor, Jefferson County has its first baby born in Jefferson Healthcare hospital in 2007.
The title goes to Tessa Jean Richardson, who was born at 6:27 p.m. Monday in the Port Townsend hospital.
Tessa is the first girl born on the North Olympic Peninsula this year, according to reports.
The first babies born on the North Olympic Peninsula were a boy born to Shawn and Ann McMurray at 4:22 a.m. Monday at their home in Sequim, and a boy born to Michael and Marilyn Mason of Sequim at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles at 11:13 a.m. Monday.
Tessa’s parents are Bridget, 38, and Mike, 42.
The newborn weighed in at 7 pounds, 13.8 ounces and measured 20.75 inches.
Tessa joins her siblings Dani, 14; Trevor, 14; and MaryJane, 12.
Bridget spent the night with Tessa in Jefferson Healthcare hospital and returned to their Chimacum home Tuesday afternoon.
