PORT ANGELES — Womanfest and Olympic Cellars Winery will host the 20th annual International Women’s Day celebration on Wednesday.
Open to the public, the event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Olympic Cellars, 255410 U.S. Highway 101, Port Angeles.
The suggested donation for a dinner of homemade soups, fresh bread and cookies is $20. No-host wine also will be available.
Proceeds will be donated equally to two nonprofits — Mariposa House in Forks, which provides shelter, counseling and preventive services for domestic violence victims; and FOS Feminista, an international alliance of more than 170 groups addressing reproductive health, rights and justice.
There will be short presentations about both groups and a small silent auction of items to raise additional funds for the two programs.
International Women’s Day, which is on Friday, is a global celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women, past, present and future.
Womanfest (https://www.womanfest.org) is a 41-year-old Port Angeles-based charitable organization that sponsors North Olympic Peninsula community events and an annual fall retreat and provides financial support for women-centered projects, including annual donations to woman-focused causes and scholarships.
