PORT TOWNSEND — About 400 people gathered at the Port Townsend American Legion Hall on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the life of James “Bonzo” DeLeo.
DeLeo — a well-known community volunteer — died March 18. He was 85.
A spaghetti lunch was served, and a cake with the Italian flag was cut, for those who gathered to remember the man known affectionately as Bonzo.
After a rifle salute and the playing of taps, Linda DeLeo addressed the crowd.
She said she wanted to thank everyone who had been involved with her father for his last month, including the doctors and nurses of Jefferson HealthCare, the Port Townsend Elks Lodge No. 317, the American Legion Post 26, and all her friends and family.
“I’m running out of words,” she said.
