CRANE RIGGERS Josh Smith of Port Orchard, top foreground, and James Eldringhoff of Port Hadlock, both with SB Structures, walk along the top of a 141-foot bridge girder as a pair of cranes prepare to lower it into place on Wednesday at the site of a new bridge for Lauridsen Boulevard over Peabody Creek in Port Angeles.

Three of the reinforced concrete girders were delivered to the site on Wednesday with three more scheduled to arrive today.

The $4.5 million bridge replacement project is expected to be completed by early 2014.

Race Street traffic is being detoured onto Washington Street in the vicinity of Lauridsen Boulevard to allow for the girder placement through this coming weekend.
