PORT ANGELES — Six months after Thomas Martin Roberts was convicted in the slaying of a Clallam County deputy sheriff, attorneys are trying to establish how much restitution Roberts owes the system that found him guilty.
The jury for Roberts’ trial in Port Angeles came from outside the county. More than 45 county employees worked overtime the day of the crime. Members and co-workers of slain Deputy Wally Davis received counseling.
These and other costs surrounding Roberts’ crime total $83,123.92, according to documents filed this month in Clallam County Superior Court by Prosecuting Attorney Deb Kelly.
Kelly and Roberts’ defense attorney, public defender Terry Mulligan, are slated to file briefs in Superior Court in the next few weeks explaining anticipated restitution costs.
