PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Fire District No. 2 extinguished a vehicle fire off U.S. Highway 101 west of Port Angeles on Monday, Deputy Chief Jake Patterson said.

The Toyota passenger car was abandoned on a dirt road near milepost 241 on the hill east of the Elwha River.

Patterson said the first crew on scene was able to extinguish the blaze with water from a fire engine.

“It was pretty well burned,” he said.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office was investigating.

Patterson said the fire was reported by a passing motorist.
