FORKS — A day after layoffs were announced, teachers say they are still processing the School Board’s decision.
Some of the teachers are beginning to search for jobs elsewhere. Others are hoping attrition will save their jobs.
The School Board announced nine teachers will be laid off and one teacher reduced to part-time by the end of the school year if other instructors do not retire or leave voluntarily.
The certified teacher reductions will save the district $438,720 in salaries and benefits.
“I knew there would be cuts, but it was still a surprise,” teacher Robbie King said Wednesday. “I have been trying focus on the work I am still doing and finishing out my contract.”
