Five candidates named for Clallam County Fair royalty

Bake sale fundraiser to be held Saturday in Forks

PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Fair Royalty program has announced its candidates for the 2025 fair royalty.

There will be an opportunity to meet the candidates at a fundraising bake sale at 9:30 a.m. Saturday outside Forks Outfitters, 950 S. Forks Ave., Forks.

The candidates are Nicole Tyler, Jayla Olson, Julianna Getzin, Keira Headrick and Aliya Gillett.

Tyler, the daughter of Joe and Shana Tyler, is a senior at Port Angeles High School and is enrolled in Peninsula College’s Running Start program. She is sponsored by Fogtown Coffee Bar and Nicholas Worley Trucking, Inc.

Tyler is in the criminal justice program at Peninsula College and also plans to pursue an early childhood education degree.

She raises Nubian goats, ducks, chickens, turkeys and cattle. Her hobbies are welding, reading, crafting and jewelry.

Tyler volunteers as a teacher’s aide at Joyce Hope Academy and volunteers with the AWANA program. Her platform is AWANA.

Olson, the daughter of Melissa and J.C. Olson, is a junior at Port Angeles High School and is enrolled in Peninsula College’s Running Start program.

She is sponsored by Leitz Farm Supply and Hermann Brothers Logging and Construction.

She enjoys softball, volleyball and is in the Thespian Society.

Olson’s plans are to attend a cosmetology school and, later, to earn a bachelor’s degree in business.

Her platform is Down syndrome.

Getzin, the daughter of Wendy Clark-Getzin and Daniel Getzin, is a junior at Port Angeles High School. She is sponsored by Fog Horn Olive Oil and Co., Odyssey Bookshop and Grocery Outlet of Port Angeles.

She is in the Marine Biology Club, Health Occupation Students of America, the Key Club and plays viola in the Sequim Community Orchestra.

Getzin’s hobbies are sewing, reading, biking and hiking, and she also enjoys playing varsity tennis and bowling at school.

She plans to attend either Johns Hopkins University or the University of Washington to pursue a master’s of science degree to prepare for medical school and a career in family medicine.

Her platform is cancer awareness.

Headrick, the daughter of Scott and Stephanie Headrick, is a freshman at Port Angeles High School. She is sponsored by A.P.S. Electrical Contractor, Inc.; Coldwell Banker Uptown Realty-Sarah Forshaw; The Coffee Cottage; Johnson Creek Veterinary Service-J. David Kirner, DVM: Security Services; Zenovic and Associates; and The Other Guys Auto and Travel Center.

Headrick enjoys softball with the North Olympic Baseball and Softball senior softball league and volleyball with the Port Angeles volleyball team.

She would like to earn a master’s degree in criminal justice and mathematics.

Her platform is the Clallam County child advocate program.

Gillett, the daughter of Craig and Tracy Gillett, is a senior at Forks High School and is enrolled in Peninsula College’s Running Start program. She is sponsored by Triple S. Contracting, LLC; Evergreen 76/Subway Forks; and Forks Elks Lodge #2524.

Gillett is active in drama club, cheer, track and field and is a captain of the soccer team.

She is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, High School National Honor Society and Peninsula College National Honor Society and is involved in the associated student council at Peninsula College.

She has been accepted at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, where she plans pursue a master’s degree and become a high school math teacher.

Her platform is the Forks Clothing Bank-Ginger’s Closet.

The Clallam County Fair Royalty coronation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Exposition Building at the Clallam County Fairgrounds.
