PORT ANGELES — A pickup truck caught fire on remote Watershed Road near Township Line Road southeast of Port Angeles on Monday.
Clallam County Fire District No. 3 crews extinguished the blaze in fewer than 30 minutes with two engines and five firefighters, district spokesman Patrick Young said.
No one was injured in the fire.
The pickup was hauling a trailer with a heavy construction load up the steep and muddy road when it caught fire at 12:15 p.m.
The Tacoma-area contractor who was driving the pickup told Fire District 3 officials that he “heard a pop and saw flames,” Young said. The driver was not identified.
Engulfed in flames
A commercial wrecker was helping the truck and trailer up the muddy road when the pickup caught fire.
The truck was engulfed in flames when the first units arrived.
“While the pickup truck was a total loss, quick control of the fire protected the trailer and the building materials on it,” Young said.
