The Port Townsend City Council will consider approving a $13 million contract for construction of a new city water treatment facility when it meets Monday.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 540 Water St.
Stellar J Corp. of Woodland submitted the lowest bid of $13,046,210 for construction of the water treatment facility and the demolition and reconstruction of the reservoir.
The council will consider an offer from the state Community Economic Revitalization Board for a grant of $300,000 and a loan of $1,200,000.
The grant is partial funding for the roundabout at Discovery Road, while the loan would be for a regional stormwater facility that would handle runoff from the Howard Street project as well from commercial properties in the corridor.
The council will decide if it will guarantee repayment of the loan.
The council also will consider a $59,000 contract with Shold Excavating Inc. for improvements of sewer lines.
It will hear an update on the status of city water supplies. The council has implemented water conservation measures. As long as they are in effect, staff provides an update at each business meeting.
Council office hours, during which members of the public can discuss any topic with a member of the City Council, take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the mayor’s office at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
The City Council General Services & Special Projects Committee will meet from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers.
Jefferson County
The three Jefferson County commissioners will continue a briefing about countywide planning policies when they meet Monday.
The session will begin at 1:30 p.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
The briefing session will be preceded by the regular meeting at 9 a.m.
This is the third consecutive week for the briefing, which is presented by Department of Community Development Director Carl Smith.
On the consent agenda is approval of a combined total of $34,602 of supplemental hotel motel grant funding. Receiving funds would be the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, the Jefferson County Historical Society, the Gateway Visitor Center, the North Hood Canal Chamber of Commerce, the Quilcene Historical Museum and the Tourism Coordinating Council.
Also on the consent agenda are agreements to allocate:
â– $14,420 for the Family and Juvenile Court Improvement plan.
â– $37,000 for water quality monitoring activities, public outreach and education in the Hood Canal Priority Basins project.
â– $132,831 for chemical dependency protection.
Port Townsend schools
The Port Townsend School Board will consider an action plan for the 2015-16 school year when it meets for a board retreat Monday.
The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gael Stuart Building, 1610 Blaine St.
The board also will consider several policies during the retreat.
Jefferson Transit
Jefferson Transit board members will conduct a public hearing on the Transit Development Plan and Transit Improvement Plan when they meet Tuesday.
The board will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Port Townsend Fire Station, 701 Harrison St.
After the hearing, the board will consider approval of the plans.
The board also will consider a policy for vanpool pricing.
Jefferson Healthcare
Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will hear a financial report at a meeting Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. at 2500 E. Sims Way, Suite 302.
Jefferson PUD
Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will discuss the Northwest Open Access Network (NoaNet) agreement when they meet Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at 250 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock.
Quilcene schools
The Quilcene School Board will meet Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the library at 294715 U.S. Highway 101.
