AGNEW — An early-morning fire destroyed a trailer full of books and a nearby structure on the 257000 block of U.S. Highway 101 on Thursday.
Crews arriving at the scene east of Port Angeles between Shore and Blue Mountain roads reported heavy fire showing from a travel trailer quickly spreading into the trees and adjacent structures, Clallam Fire District 3 Assistant Chief Dan Orr said in a press release.
“The fire appears to have started in the front of the trailer, but it destroyed everything inside,” Orr said. “The trailer was storage for the owner’s large book collection and was not occupied at the time of the fire.”
The trailer and an adjacent structure were a total loss, he said, with an estimated value of $30,000. The contents were also a total loss, with an estimated value of $10,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
