CLALLAM BAY — The Clallam Bay Corrections Center will host a private ceremony next Thursday to recognize its employees of the year.
“It is very important to recognize staff, and we have many, many staff that do excellent work,” Superintendent Ron Fraker said.
Correctional Officer of the Year Nathan Cornish and Volunteer of the Year Douglas Sellon were honored at a statewide ceremony in Olympia last week.
They will again be recognized during the Clallam Bay barbecue and awards ceremony along with other employees, including Bradley Hatt, employee of the year.
Also receiving awards are:
• Karen “Fay” Gingell, support staffer of the year.
• Michael Woodhouse, counselor of the year.
• Barbara Bannan, supervisor of the year.
• Safety Team, team of the year.
“Working and volunteering at a prison is rewarding but also dangerous and stressful,” Fraker said.
“It’s important for our staff members to take a few moments to celebrate the outstanding work they do each day.”
The employees were chosen from the 430 staff members. They were nominated by their peers, Fraker said, and the final decisions were made by a committee reviewing the nominations.
Clallam Bay Corrections Center houses about 895 offenders, most of whom are considered high-risk inmates.
