Conservation districts to conduct elections

North Olympic Peninsula residents with an interest in helping farmers work their land in a way that conserves natural resources can apply to be candidates in March elections to board of supervisor seats that oversee Jefferson County and Clallam conservation districts.

The Jefferson County Conservation district holds its annual meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Chimacum Grange, 9572 Rhody Dr., where the community can hear about programs and ask questions of the board.

One seat is up for election March 19 to the Clallam Conservation District board and two are up for appointment.

The deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday for Jefferson County Conservation District election candidates to complete an eligibility form, submit a nomination petition signed by at least 25 registered Jefferson County voters and get them to the district offices at 205 W. Patison St., Port Hadlock.

The election for Lige Christian’s three-year supervisory position will be March 7.

Clallam Conservation District candidates also must complete an eligibility form and submit a nominating petition signed by at least 25 registered county voters.
