Jefferson County commissioners ended their search for a county administrator Tuesday when they named John L. Fischbach to the position.
Fischbach, who has been city manager in Fort Collins, Colo., for the past nine years will be paid $81,670 annually, according to Commissioner Pat Rodgers, R-Brinnon.
Although Fischbach is taking a salary cut of nearly $67,000 from the $148,000 annually he makes in Fort Collins, he said quality of life issues are more important than salary.
Fischbach, 58, will succeed David Goldsmith, who is retiring in late June after 2½ years as administrator. Goldsmith has been employed by the county since 1975.
“It’s the Pacific Northwest, and that’s where I want to be,” Fischbach said of his decision, pay cut and all.
Fischbach’s mother lives in Albany, Ore., and a sister lives in Bremerton.
