PORT ANGELES — Dan Di Guilio, who for nine years as general manager has led Clallam Transit System through bus ridership ups, downs and ups again, told transit leaders Monday he will retire this year.
Di Guilio, 55, said his 30-year credit in the state Public Employ Retirement System would be reached in October, so he plans to retire effective Dec. 31.
“I’m not just leaving this position,” Di Guilio told transit board members at the end of their monthly meeting. “I’m looking for other opportunities on the Peninsula.”
Those opportunities would likely be in the private sector, he said.
DiGuilio’s wife, Carol, will continue her job as an operating room technician at Olympic Medical Center, he said.
“I’ll stay until the end of the year,” said Di Guilio.
“If there is no new general manager by then, then I will stay on until the position is filled. I want to be flexible.”
Transit agency attorney Craig Miller said the search for Di Guilio’s successor could begin immediately.
