Olympic Medical Center officials have approved a contract for their home health agency to provide nursing services to inmates in Clallam County jail facilities.
The agreement, estimated to be worth as much as $120,000 annually, received unanimous approval from hospital commissioners, who had heard preliminary details of the proposed deal in a November meeting.
“This truly is a community-based solution,” Clallam County Health Officer Dr. Tom Locke told commissioners.
Locke was referring to a problem faced by county jail administrators after an agency with which it contracted for nursing services began having financial troubles and could no longer meet the terms of their agreement.
Locke approached medical center CEO Mike Glenn about the possibility of a partnership between the hospital and the county.
“Clearly the hospital is the center of excellence for providing quality health care,” Locke said.
