PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Fire District No. 2 will sell surplus property and hold a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The sales will be at Fire Station 21, 508 N. Baker St., Port Angeles.
The fire district is selling outdated tools, equipment and supplies warehoused in its four fire stations.
In conjunction with the public sale, volunteer firefighters will conduct a garage sale of privately owned goods they have donated as a fundraiser for the district.
The garage sale will include games for children and a meal of a hot dog, chips and a drink for $2.
The two sales are separate, said Fire Chief Sam Phillips.
The proceeds from the surplus property sale must, by law, return to the accounts from which the equipment was funded, he said, while the garage sale proceeds will be used for other equipment for the district.
In the surplus sale, examples of equipment and tools available include ventilation fans, prybars, chain saws, desks, rescue tools, portable pumps, hoses, tires and wheels, office furniture, tire chains for light trucks, exercise equipment, medical stretchers, litters and baskets.
Also available will be communication gear such as headsets and speakers, as well as air bottles, electrically powered hose reels for fire engines complete with hose and fire extinguisher brackets.
Much of the equipment is obsolete for fire and emergency service use but still has life left for non-emergency use, especially for those who work in the woods or memorabilia collectors, district officials said.
“This equipment has served its useful life for us very well. However, as with all public property, we are bound by certain laws for liquidation and disposal,” said Dan Huff, assistant fire chief.
