A group of Freshwater Bay residents wants to switch fire districts, and Clallam County commissioners will consider their request Jan. 22.
The residents say moving into Clallam County Fire District No. 4 from Fire District No. 2 will mean a new fire station closer to their homes.
Freshwater Bay is located in the northwest corner of Fire District No. 2, which stretches across rural Port Angeles. Fire District No. 4 covers the Joyce area.
Freshwater Bay resident David Shortess told the commissioners, meeting in informal work session Monday, that if the area switches, District 4 would build a new fire station closer to the area than District 2’s Dry Creek station.
