Clallam: Body recovered from Lake Sutherland

LAKE SUTHERLAND — A search team on Wednesday recovered a body from Lake Sutherland believed to be that of a man who presumably drowned two months ago while trying to save his parrot.

A three-person team using side-scan sonar recovered what they believe to be Darren J. Biddle’s body Wednesday afternoon, said environmental consultant Gene Ralston of Kuna, Idaho.

Clallam County Sheriff’s Department officials could not be reached Wednesday evening to confirm the identity.

Ralston, his wife, Sandy, and Crayton Fenn of Seattle, all with Mill Creek-based Innerspace Exploration Team, used Fenn’s boat and sonar equipment Wednesday on the lake, sending high-frequency sound to create images of objects on the lake’s bottom.

The body was located a couple hundred yards off the lake’s southwest shore near Rustic Lane, where Biddle lived with his partner, Regina Garman.
