SEQUIM — Surveillance video from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Sequim led city police to arrest two Sequim men on investigation of second-degree burglary and third degree theft.
Kevin Brown, 18, and Dillon Lukes, 18, were booked into the Clallam County jail on Monday in connection with late Friday or early Saturday burglaries at the Sequim American Legion post and at St. Luke’s Church.
Sequim police said video footage taken from the church provided a good description of the thieves’ clothing, which helped officers identify and arrest the men Monday.
An officer dispatched to the American Legion at 107 E. Prairie St. at 1 a.m. on Saturday found a broken window with beer and money missing.
At 9:30 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the church at 525 N. Fifth Ave., where surveillance video showed one male breaking a window and entering the church. The video showed the suspects taking cash from the church.
Brown and Lukes will make their first appearance in Clallam County Superior Court today.
The Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is making the determination of whether to file formal charges.
