CANCELED — Rwanda-gorillas presentation in Sequim tonight

A READERS THEATRE PLUS presentation by Seattle-based lawyer and veterinarian Jode Garbe on her work in setting up a gorilla sanctuary in the African nation of Rwanda has been canceled.

It was scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at the Old Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road, in Sequim.

HERE’S THE CANCELLATION NOTICE:

The RT+ Rwanda show planned for this evening, Friday, January 20th, has been canceled.

Unfortunately, the (already-rescheduled) discussion by Dr. Jode Garbe of her work establishing a gorilla sanctuary in the African nation of Rwanda has been cancelled due to the inclement weather.

Safety considerations were the primary reason, but there were a few others. When we considered the icy roads around Sequim, potential parking problems at the old Schoolhouse and the fact that former KIRO and KING television personality Penny LeGate — who was to accompany Dr. Garbe and take part in the presentation — informed us she is unable to even get out of her Seattle driveway, we knew the show couldn’t go on.

Those of you wanting more information about the Rwanda program and Dr. Garbe’s role in it can check her website: www.rwandasec.org. And, if you wish to make a donation to this remarkable humanitarian effort, your check should be made out to “Friends of Rwanda” and sent to:

****************************

RT+ will make every attempt to reschedule Jode Garbe for a Sequim program when she is once again available . . . and when the weather permits!

Thanks to all of you for your continuing support of Readers Theatre Plus (RT+)
