BUSINESS BRIEFS — Port Angeles nursery and florist sets open houses starting Saturday . . . and other items

PORT ANGELES — Gross’s Nursery & Florist, 826 E. First St., will hold a holiday open house this weekend.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Each day, children can get their photo taken with Santa Claus from noon to 3 p.m.

Starting Monday, the store shifts to winter hours, open Mondays-Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

PORT ANGELES — Shear Elegance, 210 E. Fourth St., is taking up a collection for the Port Angeles Food Bank from Saturday through Nov. 24.

Those who bring any nonperishable food or monetary donation can receive $2 off any hair service.

Financial workshops

SEQUIM — VS Associates, 492 W. Cedar St., will host two free workshops in November.

The first is “Learn About the Benefits of Non-Traded Income-Focused Alternative Investments” from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investment opportunities for discussion include:

■   Strategies for portfolio diversification

■   Sources of inflation-protected income

■   Potential benefits for investors

■   Potentially stable and growing cash flows

■   Potential benefits of non-traded investments

The second, “Professional Money Management Workshop,” is from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20.

The workshop will focus on how to prepare a portfolio for the road ahead with an eye on market monitoring, portfolio diversification and protection, risk management and fund analysis.
