BRINNON — Rejuvenated support of the community’s senior nutrition program has led to it gaining another reprieve through August.
The Olympic Community Action Programs’ executive director hopes for a solution to retain the program altogether.
“The big thing is that attendance is growing,” Tim Hockett said Friday.
“That is, by far, the key so we can continue service down there.”
The program is now serving 15 to 16 people a day, Hockett said, but needs to serve about 20 people daily to break even.
OlyCAP is a private nonprofit program that serves seniors, children and the needy across the North Olympic Peninsula.
“They’re climbing toward that,” said Hockett, who is far more optimistic today than in June when he announced the program would end in July for lack of funding and support.
