PORT ANGELES — Courtenay Raymond, 28, was arrested on investigation of threatening to bomb The Other Side bar early Saturday morning.
No bomb materials were found in his backpack after the bar was evacuated and the State Patrol bomb squad called in from Bremerton, said Port Angeles Police Sgt. Jack Lowell.
A State Patrol robot blew up the backpack outside the bar at the intersection of Lincoln and Front streets, Port Angeles.
Employees at The Other Side phoned 9-1-1 shortly before 2 a.m., saying that Raymond had said the backpack contained a bomb, and that he was going to blow up the building, Lowell said.
Raymond remained in custody at the Clallam County jail Saturday night.
Lowell said the State Patrol in Bremerton was called because it has the closest bomb squad.
