SEQUIM — Arson investigators will be looking into the cause of a blaze that destroyed a house under construction early Thursday morning.
About 16 firefighters responded to the fire at 421 S. Solmar Drive at about 2 a.m., said Clallam County Fire Protection District No. 3 Chief Steve Vogel.
The house, which measured about 800 to 900 square feet, was under construction and had no electricity, Vogel said.
By the time firefighters arrived the roof of the structure had collapsed. The house had siding, but drywall had not been installed.
Coupled with the time of the blaze, Vogel said the fire was listed as “suspicious” and turned over to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office for investigation.
“It warrants to look into it in more detail,” Vogel said.
Sheriff Joe Martin confirmed investigators were approaching the fire as a potential arson.
“You don’t write anything off until you look into it further,” Martin said.
