FORKS — The Forks City Council is accepting applications to fill a vacant seat on the council until 5 p.m. April 22.
The vacancy was created by Nettie Grant’s March 24 resignation. Grant stated she is moving from Forks and therefore will no longer be qualified for the position.
Grant, who was elected to a four-year term in the November 2023 general election, was sworn in at a January 2024 council meeting.
Under the provisions of RCW 42.12.010, the city council has up to 90 days from the effective date of Grant’s resignation to select a replacement who will serve through Dec. 31, 2025.
Applicants must be registered voters who reside within the city limits.
Grant’s replacement also must submit a report to the state’s Public Disclosure Commission.
