PORT ANGELES — Angeles Composite Technologies Inc. President and CEO Mike Rauch will accept the Region 10 Subcontractor of the Year from the U.S. Small Business Administration today at a ceremony.
The company was nominated for the honor by Lockheed Aeronautics, for which ACTI is a subcontractor for the Department of Defense.
“Being selected as the 2011 Region X Subcontractor of the Year is a great honor for ACTI and for myself,” Rauch said.
“Personally, it recognizes that hard work and dedication can result in bringing good jobs back to America.
“For ACTI, it proves that small businesses can work strategically with large businesses to help our national and local economies.”
The ceremony in Washington, D.C., precedes a Friday ceremony in which the national award will be handed out.
All 10 subcontractors throughout the nation are up for the award — including ACTI.
The winner will be announced late Friday night, Rauch said.
It isn’t the first award of national significance the company has won.
In 2009, ACTI won the Nunn-Perry award, given annually to the most successful small business completing the rigorous Department of Defense Mentor-Protege program.
ACTI teamed with mentor Lockheed Martin and is now a qualified supplier of composite structure for the F-22 and F-35 programs.
The awards are part of National Small Business Week, which recognizes small-business owners for their contributions.
