CLALLAM BAY — An American Marine Bank representative is scheduled to visit the community and make an appearance at the Clallam Bay-Sekiu Chamber of Commerce meeting on Wednesday.
This will be the first time a bank official will visit since Clallam Bay’s Bank of America branch — the only one on the northwestern tip of the North Olympic Peninsula — closed its doors and ATM machine on Jan. 28.
The nearest banking facilities are now located in Forks, 30 miles away.
The banking void has left some residents scratching their heads about how to move forward with normal tasks such as saving money, making deposits and getting change.
“You really have to plan ahead now,” said Bill Drath, Clallam Bay-Sekiu Chamber of Commerce president.
“Things are going to get harder now without a bank.”
