OPHS grant will fund 75 animal adoptions

Koenig Subaru to donate $100 for each adoption

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society was recently awarded a $4,000 grant from the The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to support “75 animal adoptions in celebration of 75 years of service,” an event co-hosted with Koenig Subaru.

The humane society’s goal for the month of October is to find homes for 38 cats and 37 dogs — a 50 percent increase over last year.

In addition, Koenig Subaru will donate $100 to OPHS for every pet adopted in October.

Though adoptions will be promoted throughout the month, a special event is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 14 at the newly renovated building on 91 S. Boyce Road.

The event will feature: on-site animals that are available to adopt (pending application approval); 20 percent off pet adoptions; free pet micro-chipping from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (first come, first served), and on-site new Subaru vehicles to view

“OPHS wants to find 75 animals new homes within the month of October, and ASPCA and Koenig Subaru are supporting this effort,” OPHS executive director Luanne Hinkle said in a press release.

“There has never been a better time to adopt an animal.”
