Natural history walks begin in Port Townsend

Naturalist Ken Wilson will inaugurate a series of four natural history walks sponsored by the Friends of Fort Worden State Park on Sunday.

PORT TOWNSEND — Naturalist Ken Wilson will inaugurate a series of four natural history walks sponsored by the Friends of Fort Worden State Park on Sunday.

The walk will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way.

A $5-per-person donation benefits Fort Worden State Park.

Group size is limited to 15. Registration is required.

Led many walks

Wilson has led many naturalist walks and wilderness experiences in addition to conducting bird research and surveys in Norway, Maine, Wyoming, Washington and Alaska.

Wilson will explain the interrelationships between habitat, food and the behaviors of birds and small mammals.

Bring binoculars

Participants should bring binoculars and wear sturdy shoes.

The distance is about 2 miles on park trails.
