LETTER:Wants shooting ranges

Want to set off a fire storm from the left?

Mention “gun range” and watch them melt down.

What a terrible idea, they would say, what a disaster waiting to happen.

I have heard some say it will set off PTSD in retired soldiers, it will cause mass shootings, it will hurt the environment — none of which are close to the truth.

Want the truth, it’s out there waiting for you to see its ugly face.

People go into the mountains now to certain spots where they dump garbage as targets, shoot glass bottles, birds, exploding targets (which start fires), trees and anything else that passes in front of them all because not one person (range officer) is watching and no rules are in place.

They shoot any gun with any ammunition, including tracers which are another fire hazard.

Get in your car and go to our local mountain shooting areas, take a look at what goes on, then tell me you are in favor of this.

At a dedicated range, kids learn to shoot and respect guns, it is controlled access and someone is there to insure safety.

Make a good choice, either make it safe or allow them to continue their habits in a destructive way.
