LETTER:No conflict of interest

I am writing in response to several letters to the editor Sunday regarding Heather Jeffers’ candidacy for Olympic Medical Center hospital commissioner being a conflict of interest. I am wondering how so and why?

We have had several hospital commissioners in the past who had experience in various medical industries but no one claimed they had conflicts, they had experience.

The late Jim Cammack, a businessman in Port Angeles, owned Jim’s Pharmacy.

Jim was a hospital commissioner for 14 years and not accused of conflict of interest but thanked for working hard to help our medical community.

The late Bill Littlejohn, Sequim businessman, was also on the hospital board and served as president in the 1980s and 1990s. later serving on the OMC Foundation board.

Littlejohn owned Olympic Ambulance and Sequim Assisted Living. Again, no accusations of conflict of interest.

So why is Heather Jeffers is being singled out for conflict?

Jeffers doesn’t own Avamere.

She is a great candidate with valuable knowledge and experience that will help her in this position and there is no conflict of interest.

Don’t fall for the negative narrative.

Heather Jeffers is someone who understands how the hospital works, and she is needed.

Jeffers can not in any way influence the hospital to refer patients to her facility.

There is no conflict.
